Newcastle joins MIPIM to showcase the city to investors

Invest Newcastle is gearing up to attend the world’s leading property trade show this March – to attract potential investment to Newcastle and the wider region.

Invest Newcastle and leading North East England businesses are attending MIPIM Cannes to promote Newcastle on an international stage with the aim of bringing millions of pounds worth of investment into the North East economy.

MIPIM brings together the most influential players from across all of the international property sectors.

Newcastle City Council is supporting the partnership, to demonstrate the collective ambition of both the public and private sector – to develop the city and strengthen the local economy.

Invest Newcastle, a service delivered by NewcastleGateshead Initiative on behalf of Newcastle to attract and secure new investment and jobs for the city, will be joined by private sector businesses including:

  • Highbridge Properties
  • Faulknerbrowns Architects
  • Adderstone Group
  • NE1 Limited

Catherine Walker, Inward Investment Director at Invest Newcastle, said: “We’re delighted to be attending MIPIM this year and to be joined by leading North East businesses, operating in the property and development industry.

“Over the past 12 months we’ve seen increasing interest and a rise in confidence in the regional markets, as the opportunities for investment and development return. It is therefore an important time for Newcastle to have a presence at MIPIM in order to secure new investment – supporting the growth of the city and allowing us to meet the demand from our high growth business sectors.

“We have a track record of our public and private sectors working together to deliver solutions that provide strong returns for developers and occupiers, and we look forward to discussing opportunities with them at the show.”

Ian Baggett, Adderstone Group Chairman said: “The best city in the north of England must be represented at the world’s biggest real estate conference.  We are proud to be in a position to help Invest Newcastle ensure this is the case.

“We have attended MIPIM Cannes many times before. It is essential to gain a wider perspective but the conference is also inspiring and energising. As importantly, end users as well as private and institutional investors use MIPIM to explore wider markets and opportunities.

“We look forward to working with Invest Newcastle to spread the word further amongst the international investment community that Newcastle is a great place for them to invest in.”

As one of the few new exhibitors at MIPIM, Newcastle will bring a fresh portfolio of opportunities to the international audience and demonstrate the strong partnership working between the public and private sector in North East England.

Newcastle boasts key development sites across the city centre and the wider region, including 80 hectares in the Accelerated Development Zone, a 70 hectare Enterprise Zone and the newest Enterprise Zone, Newcastle International Airport Business Park. In addition, the North East’s thriving economy, competitive prices and fantastic quality of life, provide a strong draw for developers and corporate occupiers.

Pat Ritchie, Chief Executive Newcastle City Council, said: “MIPIM is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Newcastle on a global stage, it’s vital we show a strong partnership between the private and public sector to attract new investment into the city, and secure Newcastle’s future.

“The support we have from private sector businesses demonstrates not only the pride they have in the city but also their ambition to support the growth and development of Newcastle.

“MIPIM is an unmissable opportunity to celebrate the Newcastle’s achievements and secure investment to continue the development and growth of the city.”

The Invest Newcastle stand will be located in the Croisette Suites, C19.A, during MIPIM.
