Newcastle International Airport prepares for busy summer with dedicated Aviation Careers Fair

On Friday 26 January, Newcastle International Airport is hosting an aviation specific Careers Fair, with over 250 exciting roles available across the site.

The North East’s largest Airport welcomed two new airline partners last year, a host of new routes and this year is looking forward to its biggest-ever flight programmes to Greece, Turkey and the Canaries. Ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer, the Airport is looking for talented individuals from across the North East to join the team.

As one of the largest employers in the region, the Airport offers a range of exciting career prospects with great opportunities for progression. Alongside flexible shift patterns and a mix of full and part time positions, those attending the Careers Fair can expect to find entry level positions, as well as team leader and managerial vacancies on offer.

The fair, which is expected to be a popular event, is being held at St James’ Park in collaboration with the Newcastle United Foundation. Attendees will be able to find out more information about the range of job roles available at the Airport, such as Security Officers, Passenger Services Assistants, Cleaning Operatives and Car Parking Operatives, as well as vacancies with the Airport’s on site business partners, including Jet2.com & Jet2holidays, Swissport, Executive Lounges by Swissport, World Duty Free, Boots, WHSmith, dnata, SSP and Up & Away.

After attending the Airport’s Careers Fair, Dave Toulson joined Newcastle International Airport as a seasonal Car Parking Operative.

David, who was quickly made permanent and since then has been promoted to Team Leader, said: “After 35 years with a major UK bank, I decided to semi-retire and search for a new role that offered a better work life balance.

“I saw the advert for Newcastle International Airport’s Careers Fair on Facebook, and as soon as I walked into St James’ Park, I was pulled in by the warmth of the Airport team.

“I spent time chatting to my now car park colleagues and discovered the Car Park Operative role was exactly what I was looking for.”

Nick Jones, Chief Executive of Newcastle International Airport, said: “After welcoming 4.9 million passengers in 2023, we are expecting even more passengers to pass through our doors this year. We start 2024 as an award-winning Airport for the second consecutive year and have invested millions of pounds into the passenger experience ahead of the upcoming summer season. We are committed to providing our passengers with the best possible customer service, so their holiday can start as soon as they reach the Airport and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who share that same passion.

“The aviation industry offers excellent career prospects and a wide range of roles and I encourage anyone looking for employment or a new challenge to come along and find out more information.”

The Careers Fair is free to attend and will take place on Friday 26 January 2024, from 10:00 until 14:30. Guests are encouraged to register for the event here: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/newcastle-international-airport-careers-fair-tickets-779323426347?aff=PR
