Eldon Square, the city centre shopping destination, has seen over 500 shoppers gather to celebrate the opening of beauty retailer Sephora, the first city centre store in the UK.
The beauty retailer opened its doors on Friday 13 September and was met by crowds of shoppers eager to get inside the new store to try out new and exciting brands. The first keen visitors began to arrive at 3pm the day before with the final queues reaching over 500 before the doors opened.
The grand opening saw DJ Francesca Traxx perform, with Choriza May taking charge as queue host, as well as free coffee and sausage rolls by Greggs and fresh juices by Boost. Once the ribbon was officially cut and excited shoppers were able to enter the store, they were greeted with an array of Sephora beauty services including free brow mapping by Benefit, Pro Session with Pat Mcgrath Labs and Pro Session with Founder Danessa Myrick, with shoppers being pampered with some of the beauty retailers best products.
The Eldon Square opening is the fourth store for the retailer and comes after enormous success in Manchester’s Trafford Centre earlier this year when it opened in May. The new Sephora store joins a host of other health and beauty stores at Eldon Square including John Lewis & Partners, Fenwick, KIKO Milano, Molton Brown, Rituals and Cover Beauty.
As a brand Sephora commands a huge global audience, with fans of all ages praising the megastore across social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Both a beauty and cosmetics favourite, the new store is expected to become a firm favourite with Newcastle’s shoppers.
Shoppers at Sephora will have the chance to experience the retailer’s vast array of exclusive brands and ranges. Beauty lovers will be able to create the cult glossy look with Glossier, indulge in the artistry of Makeup by Mario, embrace the bold creations of GXVE by Gwen Stefani and, express themselves with Haus Labs by Lady Gaga. Plus, customers will be able to dive into the extensive and innovative Sephora Collection that is exclusively available from the retailer.
Olivia Telfer, Marketing Manager at Eldon Square, commented “Seeing Sephora open its doors at Eldon Square has been met with great enthusiasm from shoppers and we are proud to bring the beauty retailer to the North East with its plethora of enviable brands, products and experiences.
“Eldon Square is already a shopping destination that is host to many top brands, and the new Sephora store is in good company alongside names such as John Lewis, Fenwick as well as other beauty brands like KIKO Milano and our recent openings in Miniso and Søstrene Grene.”
Sarah Boyd, MD of Sephora UK, said: “We are thrilled to bring Sephora to the dynamic city of Newcastle, with its unique character and unparalleled passion for beauty. The North East is an important region for us and Eldon Square is the perfect regional retail destination, with its city centre location, like-minded brands and exceptional shopper profile. We are confident that it will be a huge success.”
