Time for Tea: Lumo and Ringtons tea-m up to delight customers for Random Acts of Kindness Day

CUSTOMERS onboard Lumo trains were treated to a little extra kindness, as the electric train operator teamed up with iconic Newcastle teamaker, Ringtons, to surprise customers with complimentary tea and coffee in celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Lumo has always placed a strong emphasis on supporting regional businesses, making Ringtons, one of the North East’s most beloved brands, a natural partner.

Founded in 1907, Ringtons has been serving generations of tea lovers for over a century, earning a reputation for quality, tradition and creating shareable, warm moments. The duo joined forces when Lumo launched in 2021, sharing a commitment to offering customers high-quality, locally sourced products. Now, as part of a charming new initiative, those onboard Lumo services on 17th February received complimentary Ringtons tea and coffee, to brighten up their day with this small act of kindness.

Customers travelling on any of Lumo’s services that day, which operate five times daily between Edinburgh and London, were able to get involved. In addition to the complimentary beverages, customers also had the chance to win exclusive prizes including train tickets and special Ringtons treats, through both Lumo and Rington’s social media channels.

Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director at Lumo, said: “At Lumo, we believe that small moments can make a big difference and Random Acts of Kindness Day was a fantastic opportunity to give back to our customers. We strive to create a welcoming and enjoyable travel experience, and this initiative allowed us to spread a little extra joy along the way.

“Ringtons has been a valued partner since the very beginning, sharing our commitment to quality and customer experience. We’re thrilled to have collaborated once again to bring a touch of warmth and generosity to our customer’s journeys, making their time with us even more special.”

Lumo recently secured a 96% customer satisfaction score through an independent survey, reinforcing its passion for the customer experience.

Emma Shard, Brand and Communications Manager at Ringtons added “Kindness, community, and tea are at the heart of Ringtons, no matter where you encounter us. There’s a real synergy between the wonderful team at Lumo and ours. Every day, we all go out and about, performing acts of kindness—stopping for a chat, and going above and beyond to ensure our communities are happy and well cared for.

“Monday presented a lovely opportunity for us to share the joy of tea and coffee with Lumo. Like Martijn, we believe it’s the little things that can make a big difference. After all, is there anything more heartwarming than someone making you that unexpected cup of tea?”
