One of the world’s most popular soft drinks brands uses Rugby World Cup 2015 as a key opportunity to reward its leading distributors with an incentive trip to the UK to watch South Africa play in Newcastle.
A group of Coca-Cola’s leading distributors in South Africa were treated to an incentive trip of a lifetime in Newcastle and London during Rugby World Cup 2015. The lucky distributors were flown over to the UK to enjoy the buzz and catch the all-important South Africa v Scotland game in Newcastle.
Sandy Brocklebank, Events and Relationships Manager, Coca-Cola, said “International, high-profile and exciting events such as Rugby World Cup are the perfect opportunity for us to not only connect with and reward our top distributors but also create great incentives to meet their sales targets.
“As one of the host cities for Rugby World Cup Newcastle was always on our list as one of the possible destinations. The support NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau had to offer alongside Peak Incentive Travel really contributed to us choosing Newcastle as one of the destinations to bring our guests.”
Julie Green, key Account Manager, Peak Incentive Travel, said “After visiting the region previously we knew Newcastle was the perfect fit for Coca-Cola’s needs. Newcastle has so much to offer we couldn’t think of a better destination to bring their guests for the trip of a lifetime. With such a huge variety of things to see and do we chose to host two of the four day trip in Newcastle so the guests could really make the most of the destination.”
The winners had a jam packed itinerary. After arriving at Newcastle’s newest deluxe hotel, the Crowne Plaza, on 2nd of October they were taken on a city tour soaking up the stunning sights of the destination.
The evening was spent at the Newcastle Falcons stomping ground, Kingston Park, for the Newcastle Falcons Legends game. Falcons’ legends past and present came together to compete against time-honoured team of Southern Hemisphere players for a never to be repeated, exclusive game.
The following day the group tucked into lunch at TigerTiger, enjoying food inspired by a fusion of the east and the west. It was then time for the big match, South Africa v Scotland, at St James Park. After a victorious win the group were on a high not wanting to head home the next day with so much still on offer to see and experience.
Paul Szomoru, head of business tourism at NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, said “International events such as Rugby World Cup 2015 provide a fantastic platform for companies like Coca-Cola to host incentive trips. The sporting event allows them to add another dimension to their guests experience making it an unforgettable trip.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for Newcastle to be one of the host cities for Rugby World Cup and brings not only leisure visitors to the destination but also attracts world-renowned brands such as Coca-Cola for conferences, events and incentive trips.”
“It was a pleasure to welcome Coca-Cola and their guests to the destination. We are sure that with all that the region has to offer, their exciting itinerary and of course Rugby World Cup, the winners will truly have had a trip of a lifetime.”
