NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau is celebrating after taking bronze in the Best Brochure category at the prestigious Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA). The award was presented last night (Monday 20 October) at a banquet dinner held at the Lancaster in London.
The guide – which is the North East’s only brochure targeting UK and international event organisers to inspire them to choose the region for their events – scooped bronze after being shortlisted with Liverpool Convention Bureau, London & Partners and Kent Conference Bureau at the highly acclaimed awards.
Paul Szomoru, head of business tourism at NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, said: “The NewcastleGateshead Meetings and Events Guide is the most important piece of print that we use to market the destination to event organisers. We’re delighted that our efforts to produce a high quality and visually appealing brochure have been recognised by MIMA through the award in addition to the fantastic feedback we’ve already received from our clients and partners.
“The guide aims to show what makes NewcastleGateshead different while also highlighting that it has the infrastructure expected of a leading conference destination. Rather than just refreshing previous editions, we set out to develop an exciting new creative style which integrates with our ‘experiences delegates love’ marketing campaign. Eye-catching illustrations were used on the cover, introductory section and section dividers. We also adapted the tone of voice throughout to convey the warm and friendly Geordie personality.”
Organised by Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine, the Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA) was launched in 2002 to raise the standards of marketing in the meetings and events industry and to recognise the marketeers.
