Filming Permission
To gain permission to film in NewcastleGateshead please contact the relevant council press office. Street filming across the destination is free to do, but you will need to consider health and safety issues and ensure you have the correct level of public liability insurance, the council press offices can advise you further on what they require for filming in their areas.
The River Tyne stretches from its mouth at the coastal towns of Tynemouth and South Shields through NewcastleGateshead. To film from the river it’s a good idea to first contact the Harbour Office on 0191 257 0407.

Angel of the North
Perhaps the most iconic location in NewcastleGateshead, Antony Gormley’s Angel of the North is recognised across the world.
Gateshead Millennium Bridge
Fondly referred to as the ‘winking bridge’, Gateshead Millennium Bridge is the world’s first tilting bridge and the newest structure to bring Gateshead and Newcastle together across the river’s divide.
Gateshead Quays
The area outside of BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art give great views of the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Sage Gateshead and the view across the Quayside including the seven spectacular bridges that span the River Tyne; contact the attractions directly to film inside the venues.

Tyne Bridge
One of the most defining images of NewcastleGateshead, the Tyne Bridge offers stunning views across the Quayside and is beamed to millions of people across the world annually as 52,000 runners cross during the Bupa Great North Run.
Newcastle Quayside
Home to stylish bars, restaurants, hotels and the city’s magistrate and crown courts, Newcastle Quayside is a bustling area for leisure and business and gives stunning views to the regenerated Gateshead Quays.
Newcastle Castle
A historic icon in the heart of the city, Newcastle Castle's Norman Castle Keep was built by William the Conqueror’s son in 1168 and is one of the finest examples of a Norman Keep found in Britain today.
