Celebrate Newcastle and Gateshead tourism this English Tourism Week

VisitEngland’s English Tourism Week takes this year from Friday 18-Sunday 27 March. The annual event aims to celebrate and showcase the strengths of England’s tourism industry as well as highlighting its significant contribution to the UK’s economy to key stakeholders including government, MPs and ministers.

This year’s theme ‘You’re Welcome’ to highlight the continued dedication of those working in the industry to provide excellent, world-class experiences for visitors.

NGI is encouraging our partners and stakeholders to join us in our celebration of the North East’s tourism industry and the impact it makes on our regional economy. Tourism is the fourth largest sector in the North East and is England’s third largest employer. It’s worth over £5bn to the regional economy each year and supports over 63,000 jobs in the area.

Get involved on social media

Tourism businesses are encouraged to share photos of their staff in front of their venue or attraction and celebrate the people behind the attraction and let the public know, ‘You’re Welcome!’
