As temperatures plummeted this weekend it is estimated that around 20-30 people slept rough on the streets in the North East. If we also include those who are roofless (sofa surfers) we are looking well into thousands.
In addition to this, there are numerous people in temporary accommodation which often breaks down very quickly – and so the numbers escalate.
On Monday 20th November, the CEO Sleepout are holding another event to encourage local business leaders to “rough it” for one night to raise money and awareness of this growing problem and we are hosting this event at The Alnwick Garden.
There is lots in store for the night and they are looking for people to join them.
Mark Brassell – Director of The Alnwick Garden – said “We are trying to encourage as many business people in the North East to get involved – it doesn’t matter how big or small your business is, all we ask is that you embrace the event and try to raise as much money as you can for this much needed charity. “
If you would like to take part then please register your interest at the website below and please do not hesitate to contact The Alnwick Garden should you have any questions or wish to discuss this further.
Even if you don’t fancy sleeping out for the night then you can still help – all of our participants have set up Justgiving pages and are encouraged to raise as much money as possible.
