The Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland has appointed Jill Baker, the director of development at Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales, to its board of trustees.
Jill joins a 12-strong trustee board drawn from leaders in the fields of philanthropy, business, charities and the public sector who oversee the work of the country’s largest community foundation which in 2018-19 awarded grants totalling £7.8 million.
Jill has over 30 years’ experience working in the charity and public sectors specialising in social care, criminal justice and community development. At Lloyds Bank Foundation she leads work across England and Wales to strengthen small and medium-sized charities and the contribution they make to society, helping them thrive and their work be more sustainable. Jill lives in North Tyneside.
Fiona Cruickshank OBE, chair of the Community Foundation, said: “It’s critical to the Community Foundation’s success that our Board draws on diverse expertise. We particularly wanted to have someone with knowledge of the wider funding and philanthropy field in the UK. As well as bringing those perspectives, Jill has deep experience in social care and working in local communities. And she is a resident of our region! We are looking forward to her joining us as a great addition to our Board.”
Jill Baker said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed to the Board of trustees. The Community Foundation is at the forefront of growing giving and philanthropy which is needed now more than ever. I am very much looking forward to contributing my skills and expertise and seeing the difference being made through the Foundation’s funding in my home region.”
