Crowne Plaza Newcastle- Stephenson Quarter has been shortlisted for a UK wide award which celebrates the most female friendly hotels in the country.
The SOLO awards, spearheaded by UK business travel management company Redfern, represents the UK hotels that prioritise the needs of women business travellers.
More than 100 women who travel for business found the time to nominate the hotels they felt went above and beyond when it comes to ensuring the needs of female corporate travellers are met.
A wide range of hotels were nominated, from budget chains to boutique hotels, and a shortlist of 8 has now been chosen.
Crowne Plaza – Stephenson Quarter has been placed alongside Hilton Leeds, Mercure Manchester, Novotel Birmingham City Centre, Park Regis Birmingham, Travelodge Hull city centre, North Lakes Hotel Penrith and Doubletree by Hilton Tower Hill.
Those shortlisted have all been visited secretly by judges and the UK’s winner of the first SOLO awards will be revealed next month.
Kate Wimpeney, Chief Operating Officer at Redfern, said: “The response to our first SOLO awards has been fantastic and it’s been really encouraging to hear the reasons why women have nominated the hotels they have. As you might expect, safety and quality of facilities were big factors but it was also the small, personal touches that set some of the hotels apart.
“It’s been a great exercise in finding out how hotels in the UK are meeting the demands of the increasing number of female travellers, and all the hotels shortlisted should feel very proud that they are leading the way when it comes to female-friendly business travel.”
Ellen Deboeck, General Manager, Crowne Plaza – Stephenson Quarter, said: “As a team that strives to make women travellers feel comfortable and at home when they stay with us, we’re really delighted to be nominated for this award. Many of our staff are women and we always try to ensure our guests have a wonderful experience, whatever the occasion for their stay – so it’s fantastic to have our efforts recognised.”
Redfern was acquired by international CTM Group in December 2016.
