INNSiDE Newcastle, part of Meliá Hotels International, has announced that it will display the ‘Creatures of the Jungle’ collection by local artist Jennifer Opie this summer, launching at the hotel on Friday 31st May.
The showcase of Jennifer’s latest artwork in the urban lifestyle hotel, which overlooks the River Tyne, is part of INNSiDE Newcastle’s #StayCurious ethos – which aims to accommodate guests’ every need with considered comforts and locally inspired lifestyle experiences.
Jennifer’s ‘Creatures of the Jungle’ comprises six oil paintings: The Leopard, The Tiger, The Hornbill, The Ocelot, The Bongo, and The Fossa. The collection of artwork celebrates the beauty and diversity of the natural world. Jennifer’s paintings aim to evoke a desire to respect, care, and protect the vast creatures and habitats central to our planet’s ecosystems in the midst of the global warming crisis.
Born and raised in Newcastle, Jennifer graduated from Falmouth University with a Fine Art degree in 2017 and now resides in Spain. She has spent the last seven years practising as an oil painter and is deeply passionate about reflecting our connection to the natural world and its beauty, a message that underpins her vibrant latest collection.
INNSiDE Newcastle officially opened on 17 May 2021, offering a slice of continental life in the heart of the city. Since its opening, the 161 bedroom-hotel has welcomed many A-list celebrities and visiting sports teams. Located on the historical Quayside, offering breath-taking views across the River Tyne, the Open Living Lounge is the beating heart of the hotel and leads into Gino D’Acampo Quayside, the hotel’s restaurant, bar and contemporary outdoor terrace overlooking the iconic river.
Jennifer’s collection will be on display at INNSiDE Newcastle from 31 May until 30 August.
