Newcastle International Airport is celebrating a 15% increase in festive flights to Lapland this winter, compared to 2022.
A total of 15 flights will depart from the North East’s largest Airport to Lapland between now and Christmas Eve, transporting almost 3,000 passengers on a trip of a lifetime to visit this incredible winter wonderland.
The trips, which are provided by a mix of tour operators, offer passengers a host of options from day trips to 3, 4 and 7-night stays. Depending on the length of visit, passengers can choose from a wide range of memorable excursions including gliding across frozen lakes on a reindeer sleigh, mushing husky’s through thick snow-covered forests, tracking down the Northern Lights and of course a visit to see Santa himself.
Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development said: “It’s fantastic to be able to provide more choice to our passengers looking to experience this fantastic experience. Winter is a special time for families and what better way to make lifelong memories than taking a trip to the original winter paradise – Lapland.
“Flights this year have been extremely popular and we’re looking foward to welcoming passengers to the Airport ahead of their journeys. For anyone unable to find availability for this year, I recommend booking as early as possible for next year – flights are on sale now!”
This year’s flights are almost sold out, however flights for 2024 are on sale from Newcastle International Airport with four operators: Santas Lapland, TUI, Transun and Canterbury Travel. Passengers are advised to visit the tour operators’ websites for more information.
