Newcastle International Airport has today announced it is expecting over 250,000 passengers to travel through the terminal over the Easter school holidays, with passengers choosing from
16 airline partners and travelling to hundreds of short and long-haul destinations.
The most popular destinations for the North East travelling public heading out of the region on a sunshine break are expected to be mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, the Balearic
Islands, Cyprus and Italy; with the traditional holiday hotspots of Ibiza, Girona, Gran Canaria and Larnaca proving exceptionally popular.
Many passengers will also be travelling further afield thanks to the Airport’s multiple daily flights to hubs across the globe, including Dubai, London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris, *Athens, Dublin and Frankfurt, which provide seamless ‘one-stop’ connectivity to popular destinations such as New York, Hong Kong, Istanbul and Johannesburg.
Easter also marks the beginning of the IATA summer season, with Newcastle International Airport welcoming several new summer destinations to its departure board including:
– Cape Verde with TUI; an archipelago of 10 islands off the west coast of Africa that offers our passengers a fantastic year-round sunshine option.
– Sharm el Sheikh with TUI; a popular holiday resort in Egypt that mixes dune-filled deserts with over 35km of coastline that laps up the bath-warm waters of the Red Sea.
Newcastle International Airport has recently invested over £20m in the passenger experience, redeveloping the security search area and refurbishing the majority of catering outlets in the departure lounge.
One of the Airport’s latest commercial developments, Tap + Brew, which has replaced Beer House, opened its doors just last week. The newly refurbished bar offers passengers locally crafted Full Circle Brewery beers, including a Newcastle Airport exclusive ‘Propeller’, plus delicious stotties and Sky Sports coverage. Aster & Thyme is another new premium bar and restaurant which serves the best of local produce, and benefits from floor-to-ceiling windows giving passengers spectacular, unrivalled views of the airfield.
The Airport’s executive lounge has also benefited from a multi-million-pound redevelopment and expansion and is now marked as one of the ‘flagship’ Aspire Lounges in the country.
