A city-centre oasis in Newcastle has won an international award after customers voted it the best small spa in the UK.
Mineral House, based in Crowne Plaza Newcaslte – Stephenson Quarter, picked up the accolade from worldwide beauty brand Germaine de Capuccini.
The Newcastle city-centre spa is just two years old, but beat three other shortlisted venues in the Beauty and Spa Awards 2017 in a category for venues that have fewer than five treatment rooms.
The award was presented at a glitzy ceremony in Madrid, Spain, where the award sponsor has its global headquarters.
Susie Hall, spa manager at Mineral House, said: “It’s lovely that Mineral House has been recognised as one of the UK’s top spas – I’m very proud of the service we offer.
“A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to help our customers unwind, and this award is all down to the hard work and determination of my team.
“Mineral House is pretty new on the scene, so it’s a great vote of confidence from the UK public.”
The awards were based on public votes and open to all UK spas that stock the Germaine de Capuccini brand, which features in 20,000 spas and salons worldwide.
Since opening in 2015 Mineral House has proved a popular pampering venue with its 10-metre pool, spa, steam room and gym – all overseen by a team of eight.
It quickly attracted a list of devoted followers including award-winning North East bloggers Laura Dawson, Tasha Steel, Lauren Archer and Pixie Tenenbaum.
During nominations the spa was noted for its flexible range of packages and treatments, including facials, massages and wraps, overnight stays at the hotel and afternoon tea at Hawthorns brasserie.
Alongside Germaine de Capuccini’s science-focused products and treatments, the spa also offers Orly manicures and Vita Liberata tanning.
Susie said: “We’d like to say a big thank-you to all our customers who voted for us – it’s great to know they think we’re something special.”
