Using the funding for specialist advice from NewcastleGateshead Initiative
NewcastleGateshead Initiative is a registered provider for the NBSL’s North East Business Support Fund which will be administering this programme, and there are a number of areas in which we’re offering specialist advice to the region’s tourism businesses. These include:
- Improving online visibility.
- Understanding customer shifts and trends.
- Business plan review.
Improving online visibility
The pandemic has caused a seismic shift in digital literacy across all demographics and more people are now looking for information and booking online than ever before. To support your business we will offer a review of content, social media, e-commerce and paid advertising, and a place at a training session, to give you a set of bespoke recommendations and the skills you need to improve your business’ online visibility.

Understanding customer shifts and trends
We will work with you to undertake an online survey with your audience to understand changes in their behaviours, likelihood to visit and requirements in a post-COVID world. Supported by local and national trend reporting pertinent to your area of work, this research will help to support marketing strategies, adaptation required to your premises and future product development. Findings and recommendations will be provided to you in PowerPoint format and our team will walk you through the key insights for your business.

Business plan review
For many of us the business plans we had prepared are now redundant, we need to rethink what the world looks like post pandemic and how we ensure that we have a sustainable and fit-for-purpose business plan. Using economic forecasting data, national and regional survey data and experience of the sector, we will support you in the redrawing of your plans. The outcome will allow you to move forward with confidence and have a plan that will assist you in making decisions in a post-COVID world.
